For each term of Council, the Township sets a new strategic plan with key goals and initiatives that will move the community forward. The Strategic Plan is adopted by the Township Council and provides direction to Township Staff about areas of focus as the organization works toward achieving its vision. The Strategic Plan is a key document that supports strategic decision-making.

The Township of Greater Madawaska is so many things to so many people. It is a place to play and discover – to ski, hike, fish and more, with activities for young and old. It is a place to live, to raise a family, to grow a business, and to be part of a welcoming, supportive community.

We are in an exciting period and need everyone’s ideas, wisdom, and creativity to help us grow and thrive. We are developing a municipal strategic plan to help set priorities for our future.

Our municipal leaders – Township Council and staff – will drive the development of the plan, but they need to hear the voices of people who live, work, and play here.

How can you get involved?

The Township wants to listen and learn from the community about what is important to you. This information will help Council and administration move forward with a plan that will guide the actions and directions of our community over the next few years.

Input from residents is essential if the Strategic Plan is going to reflect the priorities and issues of the community. We need to make sure that our priorities match up with what matters the most to our residents, recognizing that our ability to consistently deliver exceptional services to our community depends on spending our time, energy and money on the things that matter most to our residents.

A survey was created with a few questions to gather your ideas, counsel, and whatever input you chose to share with us. The survey closed July 23, 2023 and participation was impressive, and an abundance of great input was received. Thank you to everyone that took a few minutes to share your ideas!

Next Steps

The consultants continue to collect data through meetings and interviews, and through analysis of the survey responses.

Council will be meeting in open session on August 30 and 31, 2023 to discuss and review the findings as presented by the Consultants. These meetings will be open to the public.

Public Open Houses will be held throughout the Township in September to give you, the public, another opportunity to share your thoughts. Stay tuned for the locations and dates.
