The Township of Greater Madawaska issues lottery licences to eligible charitable and religious organizations located in the Township. Visit the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) for more details about lottery license applications.

You will need to apply for a lottery licence if you are planning a charitable event that has one of the three elements of a lottery scheme:

  • A prize
  • A chance to win the prize.
  • Consideration for a fee

Please note there are some types of lottery that do not qualify for a lottery licence. Our lottery licencing officer will confirm the eligibility of the lottery scheme you wish to do.

Apply for a Lottery Licence

First time applicants must complete the Lottery Licence Application Questionnaire prior to receiving a license. This will start the eligibility review for the new organization. Organizations can be requested to complete an eligibility review at any time to ensure they remain eligible for lottery licences. Completed questionnaires can be mailed or delivered to:

Lottery applications shall be submitted to the Township for review 30 days prior to the event in which the lottery will be held.

Raffle Lottery Licence

A raffle is a lottery where tickets are sold for a chance to win a prize in a draw. Review the Raffle Lottery Application for one time Raffles, for multiple Raffles at the same location use the Blanket Raffle Lottery Application and the Raffle Licence Terms and Conditions. Within 30 days of the completion of the raffle, you are required to submit a signed Raffle Lottery Report. For more information, please visit the AGCO website.

Break Open Ticket Lottery Licence

Break Open Ticket is a game of chance to win instant prizes by revealing a specified arrangement of numbers or symbols. Review the Break Open Ticket Lottery Application and the Break Open Lottery Terms and Conditions. Within in 30 days of the completion of the Break Open Ticket lottery, you are required to submit a signed Break Open Ticket Lottery Report. For more information visit AGCO.

Regular Bingo Licence

Regular Bingo events are lottery schemes where players purchase bingo paper and win prizes by being the first to complete specified arrangements or patterns of numbers on the bingo paper from numbers selected at random. Regular Bingo events have prize boards of $5,500 and under. For organizations that have Progressive Bingo's must apply for that licence separately from the AGCO. Fees

Lottery licences cost 3% of the total prize value and are payable by cheque written on your organization's lottery trust account made payable to The Township of Greater Madawaska.

Eligibility

To get a lottery licence in the Township of Greater Madawaska, your organization may be eligible if it:

  • Provides charitable services to Ontario residents.
  • Has carried out activities consistent with charitable purposes for at least 1 year.
  • Is in the Township of Greater Madawaska
  • Is a non-profit organization.
