TD Summer Reading Club
The TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC) is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests and abilities.
Co-created and delivered by over 2,200 public libraries across Canada, this national bilingual program is developed by Toronto Public Library in partnership with Library and Archives Canada. Sponsorship is generously provided by TD Bank Group.
Kids can participate anytime, anywhere. Participants explore recommended reads; track their own reading; connect and share with others across the country.
In Greater Madawaska, register for the 2023 TDSRC through your local library (located in Calabogie). Each participant must hold a valid library card. Check with the library if unsure of your child’s card status (annual renewal is required). Registration is ongoing throughout the summer.
TDSRC participants will receive a welcome package and a TDSRC passport and can then collect a passport stamp in July and August each time they borrow 5 books from our children's collection. In addition to the stamp, each participant can collect a Banana Buck to spend at our summer store (max. one per visit each day). A Banana Buck will also be issued for program participation. The store opens in
Programs will run Thursday mornings beginning on July 6 from 11am - 12pm for registered participants.
Please call or email the week ahead of each session to let us know that you intend to come.

Seasonal programs
Baby Book Bags
Contact the library to pre-register for this program.
The library's Baby Book Bag program is a way to welcome new families and their youngest family members into the community. Bags are distributed in November and include a baby's first library card, a book, and some baby necessities. Any parent/guardian of a child younger than 18 months can register their little one for a bag. This program is in memory of the late Nancy Gorra who dedicated herself to supporting area families. It is funded by the former Calabogie Women's Institute. We thank these women for their kind donation. To register for this program, contact the library or register online.
Advent Book Bundles
Count-down (or up!) to Christmas! This is a literacy program for young families to enjoy over the winter break. You will receive a bundle of books from the children's collection, wrapped, and numbered 1-24. Unwrap one book each night of December until Christmas day. Book #24 is a selection that families can keep at home to enjoy in future years. We will issue one bundle per family. Pickup is in the last week of November during operating hours. Registration opens at the beginning of the month.
