    The Township of Greater Madawaska has launched an updated Road Construction Projects page to help residents stay informed about current and upcoming municipal road work throughout the community.

    The page includes:

    • active and planned road projects
    • project descriptions and timelines
    • project status updates
    • traffic impact information
    • project maps
    • County road construction resources

    Residents can now view information related to Township road projects including:

    • Graphite Bay Road
    • Kennedy Road
    • Wolfe Rapids Road & Cul-de-Sac
    • Cooper Hill
    • Byers Road
    • Peaks Village Subdivision Roads

    The page will continue to be updated throughout the construction season as projects progress.

    Public Meeting: Thursday, June 11th at 3:00 PM

  • Fire Department Responds to High Lane Fire

    🚨 Township Update – Wildland Fire 🚨

     

    The Greater Madawaska Fire Department responded to a fire on High Lane. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has assumed control.

     

    We remind all residents to avoid any open burning during high winds, as conditions can change quickly and increase fire risk.

     

    We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if needed.

  • Notice for Nomination for Office

    Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Township of Greater Madawaska; that nominations papers for the 2026 Municipal Election may be filed with the Clerk or designate, by appointment, during regular business hours between May 1, 2026, and August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm on Friday, August 21, 2026.

    Registration papers for Third Party Advertisers must be signed by a representative and may be filed with the Clerk or designate, by appointment, during regular business hours between May 1, 2026 and October 23, 2026. Registration papers must be certified by the Clerk before such entity becomes a Registered Third Party Advertiser.

    Positions for which a person may file a Nomination for Office are as follows:

    Mayor                                    (1)      

    Councillor          Ward 1  (2)

    Councillor          Ward 2  (1)

    Councillor          Ward 3  (1)

    School Board Trustees:

    • Renfrew County District School Board
    • Renfrew County Catholic District School Board
    • Conseil des écoles Publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (Eastern Ontario French-Language Public School Board
    • Conseil des écoles Catholiques du Centre-Est (Eastern Ontario French-Language Catholic School Board)

    Nomination papers for School Board Trustees are to be filed with the appropriate Municipal Clerk.

    In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and such additional nominations, if required, must be filed with the Clerk.

  • Community Clean Up Week April 2026

    Community Clean Up Week is April 19-25, 2026

    Pick up free clear bags at any of the following locations:

    Dacre, 111 Flat Road

    Griffith, 15 Ginza Street

    Calabogie, 574 Mill Street

    Clean up litter along any road or in any community space, keeping recyclables separate and using caution along roads.

    Return filled bags to the locations above or leave on a Municipal Road and call 613-752-2249 to have staff pick it up.
