Our Township at a Glance
The Township of Greater Madawaska delivers municipal services across a large and geographically diverse rural community. The information below provides a snapshot of the community, municipal infrastructure, services and organizational structure.
In 2026, Greater Madawaska includes an estimated 3,327 permanent residents and 3,410 seasonal residents across approximately 1,020 km² and the communities of Calabogie, Dacre, Griffith and Matawatchan.
The Township maintains 276 km of roads, provides grounds maintenance at 25 properties, facility maintenance at 19 buildings, winter maintenance at 14 municipal facilities, and maintains five trail systems. Fire services operate from two fire halls. Community programming continues to expand, including more than 300 SALC program members and increased programming for all ages.
Greater Madawaska is also growing. Permanent population is forecast to reach approximately 3,990 residents by 2036.

Our Organization
Council provides direction through its decisions, policies and approval of municipal services and budgets. Township staff provide professional advice and information to support Council's decision-making and deliver municipal programs and services.
