Wildfire Update July 16, 2026 1:00pm - Being Held
The Ministry of Natural Resources has updated the status of the small wildfire located on Crown land between Calabogie and Burnstown from "Not Under Control" to "Being Held."
This means fire crews have made good progress and the fire is not expected to spread beyond its current boundaries under the present conditions.
MNR crews remain on scene and will continue their work until the fire is fully extinguished.
At this time, there is no threat to the public or nearby communities. Please keep in mind that public safety is always a top priority for the township, the Greater Madawaska Fire Department, and the MNRF. If there were ever a threat to the public, you can rest assured that information would be provided.
As always, if the situation changes, we will provide further updates. Thank you to the MNR crews for their quick response and continued efforts.
