Refreshment Vehicle (Food Truck) License
A Refreshment Vehicle/Stand License is required to operate a refreshment vehicle/stand within the Township of Greater Madawaska. Please refer to By-law 32-2018 for details regarding to the regulation and operation of refreshment vehicles/stands with the Township.
The application and required documents should be submitted using the online application. Please contact the Township office if you require a different format of the application.
Please allow a minimum of 14 days for license processing, prior to your preferred opening date.
Application steps are as follows:
- Gather required documents:
- Permission letter from the Property Owner
- Written permission is required from the property owner that states the Owner / Operator of the Refreshment Vehicle / Stand has permission to use the property.
- Site Plan for Refreshment Vehicle/Stand location
- A detailed site plan is required showing the vehicle/stand location on the property, all structures on the property, distance between vehicle/stand and structures, distance between vehicle/stand and property lines, etc. The site plan will be forwarded to the Planning and Building Department for review, comment, and approval.
- Site Plan for SECOND Refreshment Vehicle/Stand location (if applicable)
- Site Plan for THIRD Refreshment Vehicle/Stand location (if applicable)
- Auto Extinguishing System and Exhaust Hood Inspection (valid for 6 months)
- Fire Extinguisher ABC and K Inspection (valid for 1 year)
- Propane Inspection – TSSA
- Proof of Vehicle Ownership
- Business Registration
- Certificate of Liability Insurance
- Permission letter from the Property Owner
- Review By-law 32-2018 being a By-law to Regulate and License the Operation of Refreshment Vehicles in the Township of Greater Madawaska.
- Complete the online application, upload documents, and submit, OR request an alternate application format from the Township Office.
- Once the application has been received and reviewed for completeness:
- The Site Plan(s) will be forwarded to the Planning Department. Written notice is required from the Planning Department stating that the Refreshment Vehicle / Stand and any proposed operating location comply with all applicable zoning by-laws and regulations.
- You will be contacted by the Fire Chief to schedule an Inspection. Written notice is required from the Fire Chief stating that the Refreshment Vehicle / Stand and any proposed operating location comply with all applicable fire regulations, codes, and practices
- You will be contacted by the Renfrew County and District Health Unit regarding applicable health regulations. An inspection will be scheduled as needed according to Health Unit standards, either prior to your opening day or after your opening day. Your Refreshment Vehicle License may be issued prior to the receipt of Health Unit Approval, on the condition that the license will be revoked if you do not receive a letter of compliance from the Health Unit in a reasonable amount of time.
- Once approval is received from the Fire Chief, the Planning Department, and Administration, you will be contacted to pick up the licence.
- The licence fee for a Refreshment Vehicle / Stand is $175.00 due upon license pick up.
