Mission Statement

The Greater Madawaska (55+) Seniors Active Living Program (SALC) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment that empowers older adults to lead active, engaged, and fulfilling lives. Through a diverse range of programs, activities, and community connections, we strive to promote physical wellness, social interaction, and lifelong learning.

Our mission is to unite Greater Madawaska as one strong, connected community, ensuring that every senior feels valued, heard, and involved. By providing accessible opportunities for growth, recreation, and meaningful connections, we aim to enhance the overall well-being of our seniors while strengthening the bonds that make our community thrive.

Together, we celebrate aging with purpose, joy, and a shared commitment to building a healthier, more connected Greater Madawaska.

Be Part of the Movement — Join Mind & Motion!

Boost your brain and body with our 10-week Wellness Program featuring two unique classes that support cognitive and physical health in a lively, social atmosphere. Choose to register for one or both sessions and take a step toward feeling stronger, sharper, and more connected.

 

Brain Gym Class

Time: Thursdays, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Focus: Coordination, memory recall, concentration, brain health, and social interaction

Format: Rotating activity stations (individual and group-based)

GM55+ Member Fee: $17.00 per 10-week session (That is $1.70 per class)

Non-Member Fee: $85.00 per 10-week session ($8.50 per class)

Pre-registration is required.

Chair Exercise Class

Time: Thursdays, 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Focus: Stability, balance, strength, flexibility, stamina, and social engagement

Format: Seated or standing exercises using bands, blocks, and balls (no mats required)

GM55+ Member Fee: $15.00 for 10-week session (That is $1.50 per class)

Non-Member Fee: $75.00 for 10-week session ($7.50 per class)

Discover Chair Yoga with Carly – Gentle Movement for Every Body

We’re excited to offer Chair Yoga with Carly at the Griffith & Matawatchan Recreation Centre (also known as the Denbigh-Griffith Lions Hall).

Dates: Tuesdays, November 4–25
Time: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

• GM55+ Members: $12 for all 4 classes

Chair yoga is a gentle, accessible way to build strength, improve flexibility, and find calm - perfect for all levels, including beginners.

Carly’s sessions are welcoming and adaptable, whether you prefer to stay seated or explore standing poses with support.

Come stretch, breathe, and connect in a supportive community setting.

Join us for a beginner-friendly yoga class designed for all levels, right in the heart of Dacre.

Location: DACA Centre – 111 Flat Rd.
Schedule: Tuesdays — November 4, 11, 18 & 25
Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Come move gently, breathe deeply, and experience the calming energy of Carly’s guidance. Mats are provided, so just bring yourself and an open mind.

Mats are provided — just bring yourself and a willingness to move gently and breathe deeply.
