Livestock Claims

If you are a farmer with a business registration number and have lost livestock or poultry to certain animal predators, you may be entitled to seek compensation under the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program (OWDCP).

Livestock harmed or killed by wildlife, must be reported to the Township Office as soon as possible, within 48 hours of the attack.  Contact the Clerk at the Township Office to arrange for the Township's Livestock Valuer to begin an investigation.

You need to:

  • take several photographs of the injured or killed livestock, including photos of the location in relation to buildings, etc.
  • preserve the site of the attack and/or the corpse until the investigator has completed their investigation and agrees that your animal can be disposed of.

The Township will submit your completed application to the OWDCP on your behalf.

All claims for compensation under the OWDCP are subject to the assessment of your application by OWDCP.
